5/5 - Excellent I have been playing an Illusionist in our campaigns lately, and when I saw this book I snatched it right up. Went home and crawled into my closet until I finished it. I mean, this was a sign… or, it was just on mark-down? Either way I got it and I'm going to share its secrets with you.

This book gives serious thought to playing a specialist in illusions. They have different classes for you to play. The Devoted Illusionist, Arcane Herald, Deceiver, Dread Lord, Lord of Illusions, Master of the Ruse, Mind Master, Mystic Infiltrator, Shadow Mancer, & Unseen Master… now that's a lot to swallow. My favorite is the Deceiver, because he is specialized at messing with other spellcasters… that is great.

This book doesn't have a lot of feats, but there is one in here that is sure to find its way to my character sheet. Infuse Reality – this feat says that if an Illusion spell that does damage is recognized as a spell, it still does partial damage to an opponent.

Next is the Spells section of the book. It has a really nice visual display of how each spell works. When you are looking at it in the initial list, where it goes through all 0 lvl spells then all 1st – all the way to 9th, it has a chart next to it that marks if the spell falls under certain categories. They take spells to a new high: a 8th Level spell, Independent Illusion – it acts like a Programmed Image but it retains the some of the caster's intelligence. Which means that it can interact at an intellectual level.

This book has equipment as well. They introduce Spell Foci – it's a material component that can be held in the hand at time of casting to increase or modify a spell's effect. One such foci gives you a +2 to your caster level for casting that spell. They also have drugs that you can slip to your enemy before a confrontation that makes him more prone to the effects of your spells. I know that this is great for the characters that I run. No one in my group will ever eat anything that I give them…LOL…

A new list of magic items: one is a Potion of Perfect Placement. It offers a -10% on rolls to teleport. Another great item is a Ring of Fear Reflection, and that is exactly what it sounds like, a fear spell would be cast back at the caster at the same DC… nice.

This is a must have book for an Illusionist. I give this a 5-star rating.

5/5 - Excellent

I really like this book...

It was fun to sift through the pages to find those little things to tweak and modify my character. I really think that you'll like this book. Please if you see it, pick it up. I got my on sale for $5.
