This book gives serous thought to playing a specialist in evocation. They have different classes for you to play: the Devote Evoker, Arcane Architect, Guardian of Flame, Illuminator, Maestro of Dissonance, Order of Akmon, Spark, Unmaker, and Winter Mage. These are a lot of great classes. I don't have a favorite; I can tell you that is only because these are all great classes. Like the other books in this series, it doesn't have a lot of feats, but there is one in here that is sure to wind up on my character sheet: Evocation Library, which gives you access to certain discipline spells in the evocation categories.Next is the Spells section of the book. It has a really nice visual display of how each spell works. When you are looking at it in the initial list, where it goes through all 0-lvl. spells, then all 1st – all the way to 9th. It has a chart next to it that marks if the spell falls under certain categories. I think that they made a lot of great spells here. There is a first level spell that gives you a +20 for one round on your strength check with thrown weapons. It's a first level spell! This book has equipment as well. They introduce Spell Foci – it's a material component that can be held in the hand at time of casting to increase or modify a spell's effect. One such gives you a +2 to your caster level for casting that spell. They also have chemicals that you can use to great effect. They have a Amber Lens that, when used while casting a spell, increases the DC of that spell by +1, and it only costs 200 gold pieces. There is the Evoker's Robe which I think is the coolest thing in the book. It has a bunch of pockets and fireproofed pockets. It has places to hold wands, scrolls (with a shield), and it protects you from the elements. They have a Silent Rod (not a rod of silence) that stops sounds from traveling more than 60ft away from its center. Everyone inside it can hear normally, but people on the outside can't hear what's happening inside… Awesome. This is a must have book for an Evoker. I give this a 4-star rating.
