Standing in shining armor at the head of an army, leading the charge against her sworn enemy, the Crusader follows the will of her chosen deity or discipline into glorious battle. Much like a Paladin, the Crusader can be a beacon of hope for her cause, lighting the way for those not gifted with her divine power. Alternately, the Crusader can be a paragon of darkness, cursing the light while slaughtering the forces of good. Less often, a Crusader might be found following the path of order or sowing chaos. Whatever the focus of devotion, the Crusader commands great power in service to her cause.

As one of the martial adept classes from the Tome of Battle, the Crusader's power largely comes from martial maneuvers and stances. What sets the Crusader apart from the other martial adepts is the random nature of her access to her maneuvers. Though she readies a subset of her maneuvers like the others, only a few of these are randomly available to her at the start of battle. Each round, another random readied maneuver is granted to her, until she has been granted all readied maneuvers. The next round, the process begins again.

The role of the Crusader as a leader and a front-line warrior are bolstered by her maneuver choices. Though only given access to the disciplines of Devoted Spirit, Stone Dragon, and White Raven, these three are the perfect set for the Crusader to channel her faith, defend her cause, and lead her allies.

Beyond her unique maneuver system, the Crusader has a few additional special abilities. Her steely resolve allows the Crusader to shrug off some blows, delaying the effects until the next round. Also, once struck, the Crusader may use the damage she takes as a motivation to strike harder at her enemies with furious counterstrike. She even learns to smite those foolish enough to stand in her way. The remainder of the Crusader's special abilities focus on additional special defenses.

Whether you're looking for a new way to be a champion of justice, a leader of armies, or a defender of ideals, the Crusader proves a potent class. Since most of her abilities are extraordinary rather than supernatural in nature, she can accomplish her awesome feats where others might not. Led by her convictions to victory, the Crusader marches on.
